Linksys Router Login is the default router login IP of Linksys routers. You can also access the login page by visiting http://myrouter.local from a device connected to your Linksys router. 

Linksys default admin password is admin unless you changed it while setting up your router for the first time. 

You can change your WiFi name & password, login password, or set up a guest network from the control panel.

  1. Connect your computer to your Linksys router using an ethernet cable. 
  2. Open a web browser on your computer and visit or http://myrouter.local.
  3. Enter admin (small caps) in the Password field.
  4. Click the LOGIN button to access the control panel.

Change Linksys WiFi Name & Password

Linksys shows your router information on the homepage of the control panel. Click Configuration from the top menu bar.

The Connectivity page shows the details of your Local Network.

Click Wi-Fi from the left sidebar. It takes you to the Basic Wireless Settings page.

Decide whether you want to update the 5GHz network, 2.4GHz network, or both. 

Enter your new WiFi name in the Network Name (SSID) field. Ensure SSID broadcast is selected.

Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click the Save button to change your Linksys WiFi name.

To change the password for your Wireless networks, click Wireless Security from the left sidebar.

Select WPA2 Personal on the Security drop-down menu.

Enter your WiFi password in the Passphrase field for each network.

Click Save to change your WiFi password. 

If you don’t already know, when you change the WiFi name and/or password, your wireless devices can’t connect to the WiFi automatically. 

You must select the new network name or use the updated password to connect to the network. 

Setup a Guest Network on Linksys

Guest Network is not available on all router models. 

For example, dual-band TP-Link/D-Link routers have guest networks, but single-band Netis routers don’t have  

You can set up a guest network if you own a Linksys router, as it’s a dual-band router. 

Click Configuration from the top menu.

Select Allow Guest Access to enable the network.

Your Guest Network name is your Network Name-guest. 

The default guest network password is guest. Click the Change button to update it.

Enter a password between 4-32 characters and click Change.

Ensure to select SSID broadcast.

Click Save to save your guest network settings.

Linksys Parental Controls

If you are a parent, you can use Parental Controls to restrict your kids’ internet access at certain times. You can also block specific URLs from your network. 

After logging in to the control panel, click Parental Controls from the top menu.

Select Parental Controls to enable the feature. 

Click Add to select the devices of your kids.

Select the devices and click OK.

Choose the time on school days and weekends when you want to restrict internet access for your kids.

Enter the URLs you want to block in the URLs field.

Click Save to update the Parental Control settings. 

Change Linksys Admin Password

While configuring the router, Linksys uses admin as the login password. Most people don’t change and proceed to complete the setup.

Using the default password is not safe. 

Your kids can find out the default password and tweak the Parental Controls without you noticing. 

It’s better to use a custom login password to improve the security of your network.

Click Configuration from the top menu and go to Administration from the left sidebar.

Enter your current password in the Old Password field.

Type the new admin password in the New Password field. Re-type the same new password in the Confirm New Password field.

Click Save to update the password. 

Reset Linksys Router

Every router owner must know how to reset their routers. 


Sometimes you may have network issues or forget the login username. A reset can help you in both conditions. 

Reset a Linksys router from Admin Panel

  1. Open a web browser on a device connected to the router’s network.
  2. Visit or http://myrouter.local. Linksys Router Login
  3. Enter admin in the Password field and click LOGIN.
  4. Click Configuration from the menu. Go to Administration
  5. Click Administration from the left sidebar.
  6. Select Device ResetSelect Device Reset

  1. Turn on your Linksys router.
  2. Find the Reset label on the back panel of it.
  3. Press the button above the level and hold it for 10 seconds.
  4. The router LEDs will start flashing once the factory reset is complete.

Now you can open a web browser on your computer and visit Log in using admin as password and manage your network.
